Working Conditions.

There is tremendous pressure on computer engineers to finish products as quickly as possible. That’s because the computer industry is highly competitive, and when an engineer is designing a piece of hardware or software, it’s quite probable that a rival firm is developing a similar product. Getting to the marketplace first can mean the difference between success and failure. The pressure for speedy development translates into long working hours for most computer engineers. On average, a computer engineer works 8 to 12 hours a day. Most will also work on the weekend when they are getting close to deadlines. Computer engineers may spend a lot of their day working on a computer, which can cause eye and neck strain. They work primarily in office or lab environments.
