Many colleges offer computer science degrees with a computer engineering option. A bachelor’s degree usually takes 4 years to complete. Academic and advanced research and development jobs often require applicants to have a master’s degree or PhD. It generally takes 1 or 2 years to complete a master’s degree, and then at least 4 more years for a PhD.
